PIET-ZYN-DRIFT STANDARDS FOR BREEDING
Piet-Zyn-Drift Boerboels acknowledges the breeding standards set down by the South African Boerboel Breeder's Association (SABT) and all Piet-Zyn-Drift Boerboels are appraised and pointed in accordance therewith.
The breeding standards of Piet-Zyn-Drift Boerboels exceed the requirements laid down by the SABT. Piet-Zyn-Drift's standards are very high and include, among other requirements, the following:
All male dogs used for breeding to must be X-rayed and examined for hip dysplasia from 12 months of age and to be certified as having hips rated at 1-1 and less.
All female dogs to have been X-rayed and examined for hip dysplasia from 12 months of age and to be certified as having hips rated normally at nil or one, but no higher than 1-2 or 2-1 (out of a standard of zero to 4).
All female dogs to have been examined and certified by an approved veterinarian as being free of uterine and vaginal prolapse, such examination to have been carried out whilst in season.
All dogs used in the Piet-Zyn-Drift breeding programme must have attained an individual appraisal rating, according to the South African Breeding Standard, of at least 80% Champion Dog.
All dogs used for breeding, and all puppies shipped or collected from Piet-Zyn-Drift Kennels are permanently identified by the implantation of a uniquely numbered microchip beneath the skin. The identity of the pup, and therefore its ancestry, is totally authenticated.

MAX!
By the rigorous application of the above requirements in all of our breeding dogs, the possibility of serious genetic defects' being present in our puppies is minimised. This practice not only promotes the gradual improvement of the breed as a whole but also contributes to the peace of mind of those acquiring our puppies, whether for breeding purposes or as family companions.
YOUR PIET-ZYN-DRIFT PUPPY
Your puppy may be collected at the age of 8 weeks if you live in Southern Africa. If you are an overseas buyer, your puppy needs to be a bit older. This will give him the maturity he requires to handle the travel experience. We normally ship overseas pups at the age of 3 months, but this can also be done later if specifically required.
If you are a South African buyer, it will be best for your puppy if you personally pick him up from Piet-Zyn-Drift, so that he does not suffer too much additional travelling trauma from simultaneously being separated from his mother and siblings. If personal selection is not possible, we can arrange delivery directly to you.
If you are an overseas buyer you will have your puppy air-freighted to the destination of your choice; he will travel in the appropriate container as defined by the airline and governmental authorities, and all freight, veterinary certification and insurance charges will be to the Buyer's account
Whether you are a local or overseas buyer, all of the paperwork relevant to your Piet-Zyn-Drift puppy will be sent to you under separate cover, by insured post. This is your guarantee that the puppy you receive is the puppy, which left our kennels.
Whether you are a local or overseas buyer, the purchase of your Piet-Zyn-Drift Boerboel will be subject to our Conditions of Sale. This comprises a simple agreement, which carries guarantees and protection for both parties to the sale. The Conditions of Sale are set out here below.
Your Piet-Zyn-Drift Boerboel pup will have been weaned off of his mother's milk onto a premium quality dry dog food. It is recommended that this diet be maintained to ensure your puppy's health and to optimise his growth.
We strongly recommend that you maintain your dog's diet on one of the premium quality dog foods, which are available only from veterinarians. Since the Boerboel is one of the larger breeds of dog and has a very rapid rate of growth, the correctness of his diet is critical to his healthy development and his muscle and joint formation. Therefore, no vigorous exercising must be done until your pup is 12 months old.

INOCULATIONS AND DE-WORMING
Your puppy will have received his preliminary vaccination against general ailments. This will have been entered onto his Veterinary Certificate, which also shows the date when his next vaccination will be due. The Veterinary Certificate should be kept up to date at all times and taken along to your vet whenever further update vaccinations are due.
Similarly, de-worming will also have been done at regular intervals since before your puppy's birth (via the Bitch in whelp). This regular routine should also be maintained; your vet will advise you of details.
MICRO-CHIPPING
Your puppy will have had his unique identity in the form of a microchip implanted beneath the skin in the shoulder-blade/neck area. This chip carries a unique number which may be read with the appropriate electronic scanner and which will serve to identify your dog for the rest of his life. This is of great importance if you should lose your dog or if you intend to breed with him/her. Full details will be supplied to you of the identification procedure, and of both the identification chip supplier and the number of the chip itself.
TRAINING AND SOCIALISATION

Remember that the more effort you put into looking after your Boerboel, the greater will be the enjoyment and reward which you get back from the relationship.
